Coming to WCG with a distinguished career of launching and commercializing healthcare products and services, Carsten Henke joined WCG in August 2020 as Senior Vice President, Europe and Managing Director, Germany. In his role Mr. Henke will advance WCG’s growth strategy in Europe by working cross-company and cross-functionally. He heads up all operational functions in Germany, where he is based.

Carsten Henke’s wealth of life sciences industry experience from his more than 25 years in the field and a proven track record across Europe includes building and motivating multidisciplinary, global teams and organizations. He has worked for big pharma and small biotech startups, in marketing and sales as well as general management, in specialized indications such as neurology or working with orphan drugs from the clinical development all the way to launching and selling these innovative products and services.

Mr. Henke joins WCG from MediWound, where he served as Chief Commercial Officer, Europe and Managing Director, Germany, overseeing the company’s operations in Europe. While there, he set up and expanded MediWound’s commercial infrastructure globally and established the organization’s EU headquarters and commercial team.

From 2004 to 2012, Mr. Henke served in roles of increasing scope and responsibility at Teva Innovative, including General Manager of Spain and Director of Marketing and Sales for Germany. Additionally, he worked in cross-functional, Europe-focused commercial roles at organizations such as Sanofi, Hermal (now Almirall) and Serono.

Mr. Henke holds degrees in European Management in International Business Administration from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE), Madrid, and ESB Business School, Reutlingen, Germany. He has studied, lived, and worked in several different areas, including Europe and the USA, and is fluent in English, German and Spanish.
