Biography

Mr. Sowell joined WCG in 2017 as a member of the executive team. In the newly-created role of chief marketing officer, he is responsible for overseeing marketing activities for all of the WCG companies.

Mr. Sowell brings more than 20 years’ healthcare, technology and financial services marketing leadership experience to WCG. He specializes in executing strategic growth initiatives, establishing high performance businesses, and building new brands.

Prior to joining WCG, Mr. Sowell was global vice president of marketing and strategy at Covance. Before that, he served as chief marketing officer at Datapipe, which was later acquired by IT service provider Rackspace.

Illustrating his passion for IT, Mr. Sowell’s IBM career spanned 14 years. He started out as marketing manager, financial service sector but was soon promoted to senior marketing manager and then manager, channel marketing and enablement. He was then named a director, initially director, CIO Marketing Program, then director of field enablement, and lastly director of IBM cloud marketing and communications. His last IBM role was as vice president, IBM cloud marketing and brand management.

Mr. Sowell received his MA in public administration and policy from the University of Albany, SUNY and his BA in government from Skidmore College.
