David B. Russell currently works as the Director of Site Strategy and a subject matter expert at WCG, where he oversees institutional consulting, assists with the institutional sales process, and works with accounts utilizing multiple administrative services that WCG offers. David has over twenty-six years of experience in the healthcare industry, the last fifteen of which have been specifically focused on clinical research. Likewise, he has extensive experience in the areas of study start-up, financial reporting, budget/contract negotiations, investigator compensation, revenue cycle management, coverage analysis, research billing adjudication, and process improvement. He has been instrumental in the building, restructuring, and turnaround of numerous research sites, both large and small, throughout the country.

David has long had a passion for partnering with sites in order to improve financial performance, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiencies. He brings a unique knowledge base to each client he interacts with. Having a keen understanding of administrative and operational issues that affect research institutions today, along with his aptitude for clear communication, David possesses the skills to assist with the interface between research and hospital operations.

David currently partners with several institutions by providing numerous services from acting as an industry expert answering ad hoc questions to providing consulting services on complex issues. Along with these services David has assisted institutions by serving various contracted/consulting roles such as research finance director, research steering committee chair, as well as Director, Clinical Research.

In addition to being published in Applied Clinical Trials, David has spoken at National HCCA Conferences, MAGI’s clinical research conference, and presented numerous webinars and authored several white papers on a wide array of topics facing the clinical research industry.
