WIRB-Copernicus Group IRB Experts to Present at 2014 MAGI West Conference

Sessions will discuss how to work efficiently with IRBs, address human subject protections issues, and propose IRB best practices

PRINCETON, N.J., Nov. 10, 2014 – WIRB-Copernicus Group (WCG), the world’s largest provider of regulatory and ethical review services and software to support clinical research, announced today that four of its institutional review board (IRB) experts will be presenting at the MAGI West Conference being held Nov. 9-12 in San Francisco, Calif.

On the opening day of the conference (Nov. 9 from 5:15-6:15 p.m. PST), Troy Brinkman, JD, MA, CIP, WCG’s senior associate director of institutions, and Rebecca Clark, BBA, institutional IRB specialist at WCG’s Aspire IRB, will present “IRB Best Practices” with Parker Nolen, the manager of the IRB at Community Health Network. During this session, the speakers will present three innovative practices for improving human subject protection and increasing efficiencies within the clinical trial realm.

“Due to the ever-changing clinical research landscape, it is imperative that we create efficiencies and innovative processes that assist in advancing the protection of research subjects,” said Mr. Brinkman. “This seminar will empower participants to make distinctive, substantial and lasting improvements in the performance of their clinical trials.”

During the workshop on “Emerging Issues in Human Subjects Protection,” WCG Chief Compliance Officer David Forster, JD, MA, CIP, will highlight unsolved problems in the clinical research sector – relating to human subject protection – and suggest techniques to overcome these issues. This session will be held from 10:30-11:15 a.m. PST on Nov. 10.

WCG Vice President of Global Consulting Jeffrey A. Cooper, MD, MMM, will discuss how to work efficiently with IRBs, together with Robert Romanchuk, a member of Schulman Associates IRB, in the session entitled, “Navigating the IRB Process.” This session will be held from Nov. 11 at 2:45- 3:30 p.m. PST on Nov.11.
