WIRB-Copernicus Group Experts to Discuss Patient Advocacy Solutions During Patients as Partners in Clinical Trials Conference
Presenters will suggest mechanisms to help study participants find the right clinical trials, and discuss the evolving role of patients and the informed consent process
PRINCETON, N.J., Mar. 17, 2015 – WIRB-Copernicus Group (WCG), the world’s largest provider of regulatory and ethical review services and software to support clinical research, announced today that its Chief Medical Officer and President of Consulting Services Lindsay McNair, MD, MPH, MSB, and Lisa La Luna, senior vice president of corporate development and implementation at its ePharmaSolutions company, will be speaking at the 2nd Annual Patients as Partners in Clinical Trials conference being held Mar. 16-17 in Philadelphia, PA.
Ms. La Luna will present “Helping Patients Find Studies That Are Right For Them” with Kenneth Getz, MBA, director of sponsored research at Tufts CSDD and founder of the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research on Mar. 16 at 2:15 p.m. EST. The speakers will discuss approaches that patients typically take to find clinical trials, and then describe how new technologies can aid in matching those patients with the clinical studies that are right for them.
During the workshop entitled, “As the Role of Patients in Clinical Research Changes from ‘Subject’ to True Participant, What Implications Does this Have on the Informed Consent Process?” Dr. McNair will highlight the key attributes of meaningful informed consent in a clinical trial, the potential for waivers in registry studies, and how to get consent from patient-led studies. This session will be held on Mar. 17 at 12:55 p.m. EST.
“To improve the clinical trial experience for patients, we need to recognize and incorporate their needs into the process from inception,” said Dr. McNair. “We need to look at clinical trials through the lens of the patient, focusing on how we can be better partners every step of the way.”
ePharmaSolutions is a sponsor and exhibitor at this year’s Patients as Partners conference.
